John M Cohea, the Mississippi Riverboat Knife Maker
 |
Hi to one and all! My title may sound strange, but it was given to my by Fred Eisien of www.artknives.com and it just sorta stuck!I work on riverboats and make knives when I'm home. Thank you for your interest in my work. My favorite knives to make are frontier style knives and sheaths, and tomahawks, but I make all types of knives, including linerlock folders, hunters, neck knives, ect. I use the finest materials available to construct my knives. I prefer natural materials for my handles such as pearl, ivories, exotic woods, and bone and antler, but I also use synthetic matreials such as Micarta, G-10, and carbon fiber, depending on the type of knife to be made. For blade steels, I will use whatever a customer my desire, but I prefer carbon steels. I will occasionally use damascus of my own making, but more often than not, I will use the damascus made by Chad Nichols, whom I consider to be one of the best damascus makers in the country today!Following is a few words written by Paulette Tumara from Sterling Michigan. These words are quoted, with Paulette''s permission, from posts she made on a couple of internet forums. " I personally love this knife, and marvel over it''s exquisite beauty...it is so fine! Being the very material woman I am, this knife is a must have!! Oh man! The craftsmanship and skill is superb! Very cool work indeed!"There you have it folks, straight from the mouth of a very proud owner of a John M Cohea knife!!I will do my best to insure that every customer is as happy with their purchase from me as Ms. Tumara seems to be!!If I don''t have what you are looking for on this site please feel free to contact me and let''s discuss your custom made dream knife! I will consider making whatever you may desire if it is within my abilities to do so. Hope to hear from you soon and thank you again for your interest in John M Cohea Knives!!
